GREENPEACE ACTIVISTS RELEASED
On the 6 January 2010 the Copenhagen Police decided to release all four persons as the investigation had progressed to a level where it was unlikely that the persons held in custody could interfere with the remaining investigation if they were released and therefore there was no longer any basis for keeping them in custody. In particular, the other suspects that were present in the vehicles with the forged license plates had now been identified. The four persons are free to leave Denmark.
The charges against the Greenpeace members are still being upheld and the investigation will be continued. When the investigation has been completed the prosecution will make an assessment with regard to any persons against whom there are grounds for bringing charges. At the present moment it is not possible to make any statements as to when the cases may be completed.
The charges concern forgery of documents for having used false number plates to covertly pass through police admission checks; furthermore they are charged with trespassing/invasion of privacy by seeking and gaining entry to the Christiansborg Castle where members of the Danish Royal Family were present.
